Wade will give us a presentation on his ocean art and spend the weekend the retreat participants.

Wade is one of the nation’s leading ocean-inspired artists. He began painting at the age of six and started surfing at 12. By blending these two passions, he has gained worldwide recognition for his oil paintings of the tropics. Wade’s work is currently showcased in galleries in the U.S. and internationally.

Wade’s signature paintings can be seen in movies, television shows, and international surf competitions such as The North Shore Vans Triple Crown. Wade has been a regular contributor of art to ROXY events. His custom art surfboards decorate Billabong stores nationwide.

Prior to becoming a full-time painter in 2004, Wade spent many years as an advertising art director and graphic designer. His 20-year-plus career included creating campaigns for Fortune 500 brands such as Taco Bell, Reebok, McDonald’s, Microsoft, IBM, and Quiksilver. In 1995, he founded Big Bang, an ad agency for film, print, and new media with offices in San Diego and Seattle. After winning over 300 creative awards, he returned to his first love: painting. He lives in Carlsbad, California with his wife and daughters.
